Ongoing erosion along the banks of the Lower Chehalis River has threatened a Port of Grays Harbor haul road for many years, after removal of a railroad track that had previously buffeted the road from a wide bend in the river. The Port undertook a multi-phase project to add stream bank protection measures. Rognlin’s supported the Phase 2 work, which added protection to 500-feet of stream bank. We developed, maintained, and decommissioned a project staging area; cleared the site; furnished and installed ballasted log jacks and log triangles placed above and below water; reshaped the embankment with gravel, cobble, and slash above and below water; and added temporary erosion and sediment control. We also managed traffic control and signage, and provided site restoration and planting after installation of the protection measures was complete.
